Abstract
Information Gathering (S)Status: Abgeschlossen
On many retail goods there is a tag of some form or another attached, which is used to identify the product. Today, in most cases this is will be an EAN13 barcode. Given we have the EAN13 code of a product, there are several information sources available on the internet that can be used in order to obtain additional information about that product.
This semester thesis is concerned with the implementation of a Java based access to several freely available web services and the implementation of use cases based on the information provided by them. In a first phase, access to the web services offered by Amazon, Google, EBay and a price search engine should be implemented. In the second phase, several use cases should be realized. E.g. given the ISBN number of a book (which is encoded in the EAN13 code), we want to gather relevant information about that book like its title, current price or a list of related books.
Good Java knowledge is required and already available knowledge about web services can't hurt either.
