Abstract
A Computational Marketplace for the Web of Things (M)Status: Abgeschlossen
The World Wide Web is an information medium where content is generated mainly by humans. A central concern in the field of Pervasive Computing has been to expand this medium to also include content that is generated by sensors and devices. It is the prospect that this data can act as an enabler of a smart world by providing contextual background for humans and machines, helping them make smarter and more well-informed decisions. This field of research, aiming to integrate the physical world with the Web, is termed the Web of Things (WoT).
Sensors and devices, however, produce information at rates much higher than those of humans. While such real-time data harbors valuable information, it cannot in its raw, unprocessed form help us make the smart decisions we hope to make. Research in the Web of Things has therefore provided us with the ability to access an overwhelming flow of real-time data, but with no clear method of consistently deriving intelligent information from it.
